Chapter 3

As the twins set up the bunks, they meet some of the girls in Cabin Six. Everyone is grinning. For much of the cabin, this is the first time at camp. With all of the kids in this cabin, they know they will find a new pal!

Miss Ren gets in just as Mel and Ash meet the last girl to get there.

“Hello, Cabin Six!” Miss Ren says with a grin. “I am your camp counselor. I met some of you at the check-in spot. We have lots of fun things on the plan for the day. I think you will love it here at Camp Longbranch. We are set in the dazzling hills of Washington. As you look around the campus, check out the maps. The maps have running paths, the lunch hall, the cabins, and more to help you find your way.”

Miss Ren then goes on to say, “I will give you until lunch to look at the campus maps. They are hanging in spots around the campus. Try to get to know the campus so you do not get lost. Then, at lunchtime, we will pick how you will spend the rest of the day. You can pick hiking, tennis, or swimming. If you pick hiking, it will be a day to work on skills like reading a map, handling a compass, and popping a tent up. Think about that as you check out the campus!”

Miss Ren goes to unpack at her bunk as the twins skip out of the cabin.

“Let’s go!” they say.
